Led by Frances Cathryn, this workshop will help participants plan a formal creative project, including covering topics to consider when writing a proposal, developing an appropriate schedule, and choosing concepts that best represent participants’ creative practice. In the first two hours, participants will be asked to draft a project proposal and are encouraged to bring in any current proposals and documentation of their work for peer review. After an extended break, the workshop will regroup to use the foundational writing skills from the first part and apply them to grant funding, an artist-residency program, or an open call for work. Participants will learn the basics for putting together a solid application, the dos and don’ts when applying, and tips for documenting their work. The final hour will ask participants to create a first draft of an application and workshop it with the group.
