i want that crude love will consist of ten small sculptural paintings by Torey Akers in conversation with eight vellum drawings and two video pieces by Ana Hansa-Ogren. Their respective practices challenge the institutionalization of neo-liberal tokenism in art spaces by asking simple questions – why does the paradigmatic art "body" always seem to be cis-, white, thin, and traumatized? What's with all the viscera and confessional wall text? Where's the queer shit? Whether devotional, intimate or irreverent, the pieces in i want that crude love shy away from well-trod gallery tropes in favor of something weirder, wilder, and more relevant to the thorny desires and theoretical pitfalls of lived experience, however stupid, slutty or shameful.
