Exhibition Title: Midnight
Exhibition Dates: July 14th - August 25th, 2018
Prompt: PARADICE PALASE is seeking artists responding to or creating new conversation on utopian and/or dystopian spaces as it relates to urban environments. Works could relate to idealistic societies, cultures, other worlds; or relate to the failure, doom, and deterioration of similar spaces. The title "MIDNIGHT" references the novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", where the time "midnight", refers to the time between 11pm-12am (good magic) and 12am-1am (bad magic). This becomes a sort of limbo - an in between space that for a moment is a pause in a magical time of sorts, like changing of the guards. In consideration of this meaning, it is a way to represent both ideal, good positive environments, and bad, negative, destructive environments/energy. We encourage a wide range of interpretations to the theme, so long as it complies with the artwork guidelines.
Acceptable Artwork: Painting, photography, prints, drawing, 3D sculpture, fiber based works, and video. All works on paper MUST be in a non-ornamental frame - either white, black, or light wood - unless explicit reasoning as to otherwise can be presented. Explanation can only relate to the content or aesthetic of the work.
