Rebecca Forstater (she/they) is a South Carolina-based interdisciplinary artist whose work examines the production of contemporary histories in digital landscapes through algorithms, digital sculpture, and video performance. Their work has been showcased internationally and nationally, including exhibitions at Artfields (South Carolina), Vox Populi (Philadelphia), Hangaram Design Museum (Seoul), and Future Fair (NYC). Forstater's practice blends lo-fi deepfake performances with digital and analog methods, exploring how pop-culture banality and online myth-making shape collective memory. Their work navigates fact, fiction, and algorithmic hallucinations, interjecting absurdity and humor into digital narratives. Currently, they are an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Wofford College and serve on the board of the New Media Caucus.
