Cultural Hybridity and Modern Binaries

We stumbled upon this draft thesis when doing reading for our current exhibition. It’s really wonderful writing on the language behind culture and reflections on Ulrich Beck’s notion of what he calls “reflexive modernity”.

The full title of the paper is “Cultural Hybridity and Modern Binaries: Overcoming the Opposition Between Identity and Otherness?”, by Pascal-Yan Sayegh, written in 2008 and archived by HAL in 2011.

It’s a bit lengthy but a really good read! Enjoy!
