A Beginner's Guide to Art Collecting

Becca Van K, I keep making sunsets, for the obvious reason, 2020

As a growing platform dedicated to both artist visibility AND arts patronage, we feel a civic duty to share tips, resources, and advice for helping patrons step over that line and embrace the excitement that is: buying art!

As one HighSnobiety article puts it: “Collecting art is a marker not just of adulthood, but another, more elevated level of adulthood. Like wine tasting, it’s something you feel might be important to try, although you’re not exactly sure why.”

Our Made in Paradice shop, and the collaborative apparel we produce for it, is our version of training wheels for art collectors. You know you want to try it, but you also know if you start immediately on a dirtbike with the pros you’ll fall and scrape up your knees pretty bad. So our tees and face covers are here to guide you through the beginning of your journey safely, until you’re ready to screw off those kiddie side wheels.

The HighSnobiety article is actually a great guide, so we’ve linked it here for y'all to read through and take notes. And after you’ve bought a couple “wearable art” tees from us, you’ll be all suited up for your X Games debut.
