Andrea Bartine Caldarise is a contemporary landscape painter investigating the psychological connection between landscape and people. Many of her recent paintings draw inspiration from research trips to national parks and public lands. Her practice is research driven, with compositions emerging from the artist’s first person experience and shaped by research into the geological history, ecological studies, and folklore of particular places. Exploring the tension between real and surreal, Caldarise’s artwork blends various perspectives, encouraging viewers to question their surroundings. She received a BFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University and holds a Masters from the University of Pennsylvania.
