The narrative structure of the show revolves around a group of humans on a climate-ravaged dystopian planet. Hayden’s vibrant characters take on an uncanny kind of deformity while they grapple with the bleak, muted landscape. However, her textural approach creates a bold contrast between the subjects and their environment, allowing them to burst with life from the subdued background. Hayden plays with scale and perspective to make her figures purely human, combining masculine characters with feminine features and vice versa, stripping away the vestiges of discernable gender.
